School Meals

From September 2007, charges for school meals are being re-introduced for primary school children across the whole city. Parents and carers eligible to claim free school meals are advised to do so as soon as possible.

Claiming Free School Meals*

The parent or carer who receives the qualifying benefit needs to complete an application form (form EWB1). Forms are also available from all customer service centres or from Hull Schools.

After filling in the form you can either -

• post it with proof of your benefits (letter or bank/post office statement showing type of benefit) to Welfare Benefits
• post it with the green form (form EWB3) to Welfare Benefits, this will allow staff to check your benefits
• some schools will check you form and proof of benefits then send the form back themselves, please ask your school
• customer service centres will check your form and proof of benefits then send the form onto the welfare benefits team
