Parent Helpers

Child reads to parent helperParent Helpers are often needed in school. Sometimes this may be listening to children read, other times it may be to help with setting-up a school play or Easter Fair. Parents are always needed to accompany children, with the one or more teachers, when making an educational visit.

One of the most important jobs is simply listening to children read, one to one, and then reporting back to the teacher. Giving a child the opportunity to read to an adult is so important as it helps the child to gain confidence in their reading skills, spelling skills and in themselves.

Every child will have the opportunity to read to an adult, one to one, at least once each week. We would like this to happen much more and invite you to spend a little of your free time in school, helping the children to learn.

If you would like to know more about becoming a parent helper, please ask at the school reception, telephone on (01482) 351394 or send an email and we'll call you back.
