My Family Tree

Writing down your family tree can be lots of fun. You will find out lots of things about your family. For instance, do you know who your great grandparents are, or where? Making a family tree will help you to discover this, and much more besides.

Why do they call it a family tree? Well, like a real tree, it grows bigger at the top as you discover more and more. Here is how it grows;

There is one of you

You have one dad

You have one mum

Your dad has 1 dad

Your dad has 1 mum

Your mum has 1 dad

Your mum has 1 mum

Oops! I've drawn it upside down! Can you copy our tree the right way up? Can you add another row? How many boxes will you need?

(Tip, it might be best to use your paper sideways, or landscape.)
